Pratt & Whitney is a seeking a Principal Project Engineer (P4) to work at our India Engineering Center campus in Bengaluru, India. The successful candidate will join the Compression Systems Engineering Project team to provide production and field support for our operational commercial engine Fan, Low Pressure Compressor, and High-Pressure Compressor components. This includes airfoils, rotors, shafts, cases, seals, and actuation linkage systems.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB PURPOSE

This position is for a Project Engineering professional working with limited support. Supports the development of project plans, schedules and budgets, tracks progress, resolves problems, develops solutions, and forecasts project revenue. Coordinates with other functional organizations. Identifies and addresses project problems, analyzes data gathered, and develops solutions and recommendations to solve problems, meet deadlines and optimize performance.

JOB ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES OR TASKS

  • Understanding project technical requirements, challenges and propose design solutions.
  • Development of project plans, schedules, and budgets to meet business objectives.
  • Leading multiple IPT teams, working closely with cross-functional team members and Regulatory authorities on hardware field investigations to drive root cause and recommend product improvements.
  • Tracks progress, identifies and resolves obstacles to minimize disruption to project schedules to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Preparation of technical strategy to CIPT and upper Pratt & Whitney management
  • Analyzes data gathered and develops solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiency of work
  • Create, Maintains, and presents plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s) to track progress and ensure that established targets are met.
  • Perform risks assessments and implement mitigation plans.  
  • Drive & Review Class 1 and Class 2 engineering changes to formal closure
  • Identifies and addresses project problems and recommends resolutions to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • Facilitates project tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives.

OTHER MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES OR TASKS

  • Provide training and coaching team members on project engineering.
  • Actively pursuing initiatives for continuous improvement using ACE tools and support AS9100 efforts
  • Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties within the company
  • Develop project management capabilities at India Engineering Center.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 12+ years of prior experience or 10+ years of experience with Advanced degree
  • Strong design integration or project engineering experience in Gas turbines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the Aerospace Industry
  • Strong system and sub-system design integration experience
  • Good Technical Knowledge of structures, aerothermal, manufacturing, MRO and field-support of aero gas turbines
  • Working proficiency with Teamcenter, SAP, MS Project, or other scheduling software
  • The ability to craft clear communication and build positive relationships.
  • Excellent communication, Influencing and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills promoting teamwork.
  • PMP certification

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel up to 10
