As a Principal EMI EMC Engineer, you will lead advanced EMI/EMC analysis, testing, and design integration for cutting-edge aerospace and defense technologies. You will drive strategic initiatives, mentor engineers, and provide technical leadership to ensure compliance with rigorous industry standards such as MIL-STD-461 and DO-160. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the future of our products, ensuring they meet and exceed performance expectations in demanding environments.
What You Will Do
Serve as the technical authority for EMI/EMC engineering efforts, guiding cross-functional teams and providing expertise on compliance, analysis, and design integration.
Develop and execute advanced EMI/EMC control plans, strategies, and test procedures to mitigate risks and optimize system performance.
Lead and oversee EMC/EMI testing in accordance with industry standards, including MIL-STD-461 and DO-160, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in EMI/EMC engineering practices.
Collaborate with product design teams to integrate EMI/EMC considerations from concept through production, ensuring robust system performance.
Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of EMI/EMC issues, recommending and implementing innovative solutions.
Evaluate and select materials, components, and shielding techniques to enhance EMI/EMC performance.
Author and review technical reports, test documentation, and compliance certifications for internal and external stakeholders.
Engage with regulatory bodies, customers, and industry groups to stay ahead of evolving standards and best practices in EMI/EMC engineering.
Support audits, reviews, and compliance activities to ensure adherence to contractual and regulatory obligations.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer
Working experience in EMI/EMC analysis, test, and troubleshooting, particularly in aerospace or defense applications.
Working experience in MIL-STD-461, DO-160, and other industry standards for electromagnetic compatibility.
Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring engineers and driving complex technical projects.
Hands-on experience with EMI/EMC test equipment, simulations, and mitigation techniques.
Deep understanding of electromagnetic physics, materials science, and shielding technologies.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
