The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an experienced Loads and Dynamics Engineer to join the Loads and Dynamics Engineering organization within Boeing Air Dominance Division located in Berkeley, MO.

In this role, you will support loads and dynamics assessments for various aircraft programs within the Air Dominance division, including F/A-18, F-15, T-7, MQ-25 and others. This position requires strong analytical problem-solving skills and familiarity with one or more of the following: aerodynamics, flight dynamics, aircraft stability and control, structural dynamics (i.e., vibration and shock), aeroelastic stability, and finite element modeling. The ability to effectively communicate with teammates, internal suppliers, and customers is also required.

Your expertise in areas such as Aerodynamics; Propulsion; Guidance, Navigation & Control; and Loads & Dynamics will drive the future of aerospace.


Would you be interested in working on an aircraft carrier to support the unmanned aerial-refueling MQ-25 vehicle?  Or flight testing of prototype and production manned and unmanned vehicles?  How about creating and running state-of-the-art vehicle simulations of the T-7 Redhawk and supporting flight and ground tests to verify predicted vehicle performance?  Or working on teams developing the next generation of tactical aircraft?  This is just a small sample of the exciting things our engineers do supporting our government customers and the men and women of the U.S. military.


The Flight Systems Engineering Capability is an exciting organization in Boeing Defense, Space & Security responsible for performing Flight Engineering across a large portfolio of products and development programs. Product areas within the Flight Systems Capability in the St. Louis/St. Charles region include Fighter Aircraft, Unmanned Aircraft, and Missiles/Weapons Systems. The set of specialized capabilities and skills maintained by our teammates are the foundation of what defines the majority of our Boeing products; things that FLY!  The St. Louis region is continuing to grow, and Flight Engineering is looking for motivated, talented engineers to join the Boeing team on the exciting programs located in this region. Selected candidates will work a wide range of programs that will require design, analysis and testing in Flight disciplines to meet our customers requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops air vehicle requirements
  • Creates vehicle-level models for loads and dynamics analysis
  • Performs loads analysis to support air vehicle design (e.g., flight and ground simulations for loads)
  • Develops flight and ground test requirements and plans
  • Leads ground and flight testing by performing pre-test analysis, real-time monitoring of test conditions, post-test data analysis, and results documentation
  • Establishes safe vehicle flight envelope and operational limits
  • Conducts airworthiness activities with regulatory agencies and internal/external customers via correspondence, presentations, and documentation
  • Some travel to ground and flight test sites as well as customer or vendor offices

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.

  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 3&43; years of experience in an engineering role relevant to flight loads
  • Proficiency with 1 or more programming languages (e.g., Fortran, C, Matlab, Python, etc.)
  • Work experience in one or more of the following technical competencies: Aerodynamics, Stability & Control, Structural Dynamics, Aeroelasticity, and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5&43; more years directly related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Flight vehicle programs through requirements development, analysis, and/or test phases
  • Experience with full-scale structural, wind tunnel or flight testing
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master&43;3 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Travel:

Summary pay range:

Level 3, $95,200 - $128,800
