The Powerplant Engineering (PPE) Group Lead is responsible for overseeing the Powerplant Engineers who support both the GTF and V2500 partnership programs with P&W.  This position reports to the PPE Department Manager and works closely with P&W and JAEC counterparts. The PPE Group Lead also individually supports either the GTF or V2500 program as a Powerplant Engineer.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Work with Powerplant Engineering
    • Create, maintain and distribute technical documentation necessary for gas turbine engine overhauls performed on customer aircraft fleets
    • Collaborate with Fleet Technical Managers and Maintenance Repair and Overhaul facilities to minimize expenditures and improve engine maintenance interval/reliability
    • Ensure the timely delivery of high quality, cost effective Customized and Generic Engine Maintenance Plans
    • Identify shared or unique technical problems across all engine programs to develop best practices
    • Understand how the workscope team  integrates with the Powerplant Engineers and identify opportunities to improve collaboration
    • Establish relationships to collaborate technically with P&W, JAEC & MTU
  • Provide supervision
    • Tracking and approval of employee charging
    • Lead employees within the group to meet organizational expectations for quality and customer service while maintaining compliance with company’s policies and procedures
    • Foster group cohesion and recognize key achievements as a means of sustaining momentum and engagement
    • Ensure all tools for daily operation are available to the group
    • Conduct meaningful 1:1’s with group members on a regular basis
    • Complete annual feedback summaries for direct reports, working closely with Manager on development plans  
  • Support the PPE department strategy 
    • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, training, and long term departmental planning
    • Identify key success factors for positions within the department and work with department Manager and other Group Leads to identify development opportunities across the company to acquire, refine and improve on these factors
    • Support development and advancement activities of group
    • Help facilitate the integration of different roles within the department
    • Act as a sounding board for department Manager to help clarify complex or difficult situations and further develop ideas
    • Perform contract reviews and monitor budgets
    • Support the PPE manager in annual Operational Planning

Requirements for this position include:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in gas turbine engines
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in a cross functional leadership role preferred
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and empower team members to succeed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and make decisions under pressure
  • Strong organizational, planning, and presentation skills; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Take initiative and assume responsibility
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Occasional international travel is required
  • Eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship
