Job Summary:

The Drafter III (Quality Checker) position is a key part of our Technical Services Department. As a Drafter III (Quality Checker), you will play a pivotal role in transforming visionary concepts into precise technical drawings that drive our projects forward. From overseeing and managing the outsourced drafting vendors for accuracy, reviewing architectural, structural drawings and specifications, and retrieving information to complete drawing, layout, or design this position is perfect for a dynamic and detailed candidate looking to join our team!

In this role, you will:

  • Provide an extensive project shop drawing review check to ensure quality, application and compliance to the contract documents, to eliminate errors and improve customer experience.

  • Review specifications, architectural and structural drawings for product requirements.

  • Drive adherence to drafting standards.

  • Collect metric data for quality escapes and submit feedback to owner for root cause.
  • Lead/coordinate departmental problem solving to eliminate errors. (PPS A3).
  • Provide input for the departmental ABS quarterly A3 and help ensure all action items are completed.

  • Attend and discuss quality escapes in daily L1.

  • Coordinate with outsource vendors to increase output quality while driving lower cost and on time submittal release.

  • Review non-traditional products and coordinate product bundling with other facilities.

  • Provide training to all departments for application of products and standards.

  • Increase training library as required to meet business needs.

Knowledge and Skills Needed:

  • Strong knowledge of drafting standards and procedures.
  • Extensive product application and installation knowledge. (curtain wall, storefront, and windows)

  • Well-rounded knowledge of manufacturing and glazing processes.

  • Understanding of project management principles to coordinate and manage drafting tasks effectively.

  • Understand specification sections for a project to ensure correctness of shop drawings.

  • Advanced use of AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite products.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that include the ability to lead and teach.

  • Ability to identify and resolve design and drafting issues efficiently.

  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment, fostering cooperation and teamwork.

  • Strong proficiency to produce accurate and precise drawings.

  • Proven technical proficiency in CAD software and drafting techniques.

  • Excellent ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, design drawings and sketches to review with team members to ensure correct interpretations.

  • Capability to check shop drawings of others using established drafting standards with the ability to train.

  • Travel – less than 10

Work Setting & Location:

  • This position will operate in person in a professional office environment in Springdale, AR.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday

You have: (required)

  • HS Diploma or GED from a qualified educational institution.
  • 7+ years of experience in a Drafting role.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ manufacturing, construction, or architectural experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with AutoCAD/Revit/Inventor.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Exceptional Candidates also have: (preferred)

  • 10 years construction/architectural industry background where positions held primarily focused on creating and using construction drawings.
  • AAS in Drafting and Design (2-year degree) and 6 years industry related experience
  • Mechanical/Civil engineering degree or 2 years engineering related curtain wall/storefront experience
  • 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
  • Knowledge of Kawneer product line.
