At Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), we understand that sometimes we must pause our professional life to support our family and loved ones. After stepping away from the workplace to care for children, aging parents or other family obligations, the road to return to work can be challenging, and at times intimidating. This is where Chapter Next can be part of your solution.
Chapter Next is a 12-16 week paid returnship hosted by RMS. Candidates who have taken a professional career hiatus for at least 1+ years will be eligible to apply to this program.
During this returnship participants will become part of a community of similarly experienced professionals with challenging work scopes that contribute to the great innovation produced by Lockheed Martin! Selected candidates will be exposed to comprehensive training, professional development opportunities, networking opportunities, and individual based mentoring
Our goal is to provide the fundamental tools needed to be successful in your career field, and to potentially prepare you for an opportunity to join Lockheed Martin full-time. Fields of focus will be diverse across the program and include functional and technical opportunities.
This returnship position is Systems Engineering f and will be located in Stratford, CT. This position will support Black Hawk and Black hawk derivative programs through Flight Management System (FMS) embedded software design and test in an Agile Development environment. Responsibilities will include software requirements development and software test development/execution as a member of an agile scrum team.

Reporting to the FMS team in the Air Vehicle Products & Solutions department the selected individual will contribute to the Engineering and Technology Mission Systems organization in the following ways:

• Work with a development team to plan and execute incremental software updates
• Software requirements development
• Software test development
• Software test execution
• Internal and customer reviews of deliverable product increments
Basic Qualifications:
• Engineering or equivalent 4-year science degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Software coding experience (C, C++, ADA)
• Experience with Requirements management applications (DOORS)
Desired Skills:
• Familiarity with Agile Development – Scrum or Kanban
• Aviation knowledge or experience
• Familiarity with avionics (Radios, Navigation, Displays)
• Experience with Model Based System Engineering
• Familiarity with Required Area Navigation (R-NAV)
• Familiarity with version control

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
