Job Description:

To support Safrans drive towards advanced manufacturing, we are looking for a skilled Automation & Controls engineer to join our Industrialisation team. Acts as a main point of authority for automation activities within Industrialisation for new and existing product ranges. This role also expects hands-on activities to develop systems, working independently with suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver solutions and support breakdowns and maintenance when necessary as well as spreading their knowledge across the team.

otMajor resource for completion of open automation projects (Adelphi, QMS, Tunnel Winder, etc.) driving the technical solutions and implementation, addressing risks and working closely with other internal stakeholders
otDevelop, modify & improve Safrans automated equipment.
otCreate CAD layouts and virtual environments for simulation and programming.
otHands-on coding, wiring, pneumatic piping for new lines and modification of existing product lines.
otInternal reference for maintenance & breakdown support for specialist equipment.
otTraining of internal Maintenance teams to equip them to handle the majority of breakdowns once embedded.
otCreation of process documentation (Work instructions, control plans, PFMEA, etc.) and wiring diagrams, pneumatic circuits, ladder diagrams etc.
otPropose new automation CAPEX and lead preparation of business cases.
otBuild capability network of suppliers and contractors for support and development.
otBe an expert resource; impart knowledge of automated system concepts and DFA to the wider Safran industrialisation team.
Job Requirements:

Proven experience within an applicable engineering role (Automation/Controls/Robotics/Systems/ME/IE) with relevant skillset in ideally Aerospace/Automotive background:
Relevant experience within PLCs & control systems would include:
•\tKnowledge specifying, programming and integrating a PLC-based control system.
•\tExperience with at least one major manufacturer (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.).
•\tExperience with safety PLC and building safety circuits.
•\tExperience with Pneumatic systems and creation of pneumatic circuits (Festo, SMC, etc.)
•\tProfinet/Profibus, Ethernet-IP.
•\tMachine vison (Cognex, Keyence, etc.)
•\tDesign and implementation of HMI.
Relevant experience within Robotics would include:
•\tProgramming.
•\tFault Finding and resolution.
•\tDesign and simulation software.
•\tExternal Axes.
•\tExperience in design and/or specification of End-of Arm-Tooling.
•\tIn-depth knowledge of at least one major brand of industrial robot (ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa, KUKA, etc.).
•\tKnowledge of Collaborative Robots (Universal, ABB, Techman, etc.).
•\tAutomated systems – Knowledge and experience of interconnected manufacturing processes.
Industrial Concepts:
•\tExperience in Industrialisation of manufacturing processes.
•\tExperience of industrial tools such as time study, Work Combination Tables, Value Stream Mapping.
•\tExperience of Lean manufacturing concepts.
General:
•\tEffective communicator across all levels of the organisation with internal and external customers
•\tGood organisational skills and ability to plan and manage to deadlines in a fast paced environment
•\tSolid problem solving skills
•\tContinuous improvement mindset and change management experience preferred
•\tAble to work as part of a team and also independently
•\tSelf-motivation is a key asset, as is the ability to collect, compile and use data to drive decision making and present convincing arguments.
•\tStrong HSE focus ideally with Ergonomics experience
•\tQuality focused mindset and experience within a controlled environment
•\tUse of MS Office tools
•\tUse of 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD, Solidworks, Catia, NX, Onshape or similar)•
