Job Description

This role focuses on the fabrication, installation, and testing of avionics and electrical systems on helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. You will work hands-on with wiring harnesses, antennas, and coax installations, support both basic and complex avionics tasks, and ensure that all work meets aviation standards for safety, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and install basic avionics and electrical systems in accordance with aviation standards and wiring practices.
  • Assist with more complex avionics and electrical installation tasks under the guidance of senior-level technicians or engineering instructions.
  • Disassemble and reassemble aircraft interiors as directed to facilitate avionics installations, modifications, or repairs.
  • Perform light sheet metal fabrication to support avionics installation or repair activities.
  • Assist with the creation and use of wiring harness maps or mock-ups to ensure accurate routing and installation.
  • Fabricate and install wiring harnesses, ensuring proper routing, securement, and termination.
  • Install antennas and associated components on aircraft, ensuring correct placement and integration with avionics systems.
  • Install coaxial cables, including routing, securing, and terminating to support communication and navigation systems.
  • Perform or assist with OHM (ohmmeter) and power checks to verify continuity, insulation resistance, and correct power distribution.
  • Perform or assist with ground checks to confirm proper operation of avionics systems before aircraft release.
  • Terminate wires using approved crimping, soldering, and connection techniques to ensure reliable electrical connections.
  • Support troubleshooting of avionics and electrical systems using wiring schematics, diagrams, and test equipment.
  • Participate in aircraft inspections related to avionics and electrical systems, documenting findings and corrective actions.
  • Work on Bell helicopters and Airbus platforms, adapting installation and troubleshooting methods to each aircraft type.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area within the hangar environment.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience working with avionics systems in an aviation environment.
  • Proficiency in standard aircraft wiring practices, including routing, bundling, and securing wiring.
  • Hands-on experience with avionics installation and avionics systems on helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, wiring schematics, and other technical documentation.
  • Experience with wiring harness fabrication, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of electrical components used in aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in soldering techniques appropriate for aviation wiring and component assembly.
  • Experience with avionics troubleshooting and testing using appropriate tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to perform aircraft inspection tasks related to avionics and electrical systems.
  • Experience working with helicopter avionics, including installation and troubleshooting.
  • Competence in performing OHM and power checks, as well as ground checks, to verify system integrity.
  • Ability to install antennas and coaxial cables, including proper termination and testing.
  • Familiarity with aviation safety practices and working in an aircraft hangar environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working specifically on Bell helicopters and Airbus aircraft platforms.
  • Experience in aviation maintenance or avionics-focused education or training.
  • Comfort using a variety of hand tools and equipment for light sheet metal fabrication and wiring tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed technical instructions and procedures.
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team in a busy hangar setting.
  • Solid problem-solving skills to assist with complex installations and troubleshooting activities.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate tasks and report findings to supervisors and team members.

Work Environment

You will work in a large hangar environment alongside approximately 45 colleagues, supporting a collaborative and hands-on aviation operation. The role involves working directly on aircraft, including Bell helicopters and Airbus platforms, using tools and equipment for avionics installation, wiring, testing, and light sheet metal fabrication. The hangar setting requires adherence to safety protocols and appropriate work attire suitable for an aircraft maintenance environment. You can expect a dynamic, production-focused atmosphere where multiple projects may be in progress simultaneously, and where teamwork and clear communication are essential to maintain efficiency and safety.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $48.00/hr.
