Job Overview

The Continuous Improvement Specialist coordinates, leads and directs the Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence efforts within AEVEX Tactical Systems prioritizing process improvement goals and strategies for AEVEX.

Essential Functions

· Participate in the AEVEX Tactical Systems Integrated Operations leadership team by assisting senior leaders and team leaders in the identification and elimination of waste and communicating ideas and opinions to the management team.

· Perform business analysis, coordinate project planning and project execution

· Evaluate the entire business scope from a broad view identifying opportunities for process improvement, waste removal and cost containment making the associated recommendations for change to senior leadership.

· Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior management, to gain buy-in and support for improvement projects.

· Assist with leading change management efforts to ensure smooth implementation of new processes and systems.

· Document new processes, procedures, and work instructions to ensure standardization.

· Teach, lead, mentor, and coach continuous improvement teams of various sizes on business process improvements

· Provide direction and help as needed to continuous improvement teams to meet commitments.

· Drives continuous improvement and operational excellence both on the production floor as well as transactional processes collaborating with multiple functions including supply chain, program management and engineering.

· Analyzes company processes and procedures investigating shortfalls, issues, and problems with current business processes developing process enhancement strategies

· Role model appropriate behaviors (change leadership, communication, teamwork, mutual respect, etc.) required in developing and maintaining a positive work environment.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies

· Passion for Continuous Improvement

· Quickly takes initiative, is driven to get things done, and positively responds to pressure

· Proven experience working with and implementing continuous improvement / lean manufacturing principles: Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management, SMED, A3 problem solving, Kanban, Mistake-proofing, Standard Work, Kaizen, 5S, etc.

· Strong understanding of single piece flow manufacturing, constraint management, line of balance, visual factory, problem identification and problems solving.

· Keen ability for identifying manufacturing business process improvements and problems in organizational structures with a demonstrated history of identifying and implementing effective improvements

· Strong strategic and analytical mindset.

· Leadership and mentoring skills with the proven ability to drive organizational change

· Ability to facilitate a team to a defined outcomes in a timely manner

· Strong Project management skills (e.g. prioritize, plan, execute)

· Microsoft experience required, specifically in Excel and Project

· Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills and an ability to communicate with all levels of employees from upper management to production floor employees


Education / Certifications

· Bachelors degree in engineering, business, operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred


Experience

· Minimum five years experience in a manufacturing environment

· Aerospace and Defense experience preferred

· Toyota Production System training and application experience desired
