Summary

The Division Assistant Controller works with Division Management and plant personnel to improve visibility into operational performance through review, analysis, engagement with the operations and improving utilization of the PCC toolkit. They will also directly supervise the Division Accounting department and overall SOX program and ARC controls. The Division Assistant Controller will work closely on annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and quarterly reporting to Corporate.

Essential Functions (Not all Inclusive)

Review, analyze and assist the plants with issues that may arise involving the following:

Weekly P&L’s

Monthly and Quarterly Operating Review Packages

Capital Appropriation Requests

Monthly LCM and FCA Calculations

Assistance, tracking and oversight of high-profile projects across the Division, as required

Prepare specialize management reporting for Division Senior Management, as required

Special Assignments, as required by Division Management

Communicate with co-workers, management, and others in courteous and professional manner

Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment

May perform as interim controller at an SMC/Energy plant at any time

Oversees monthly Division closing and consolidation process

Works with all SMC and Energy plants on SOX issues including driving proactive “deep dives” and balance sheet reviews

Review FQR’s with plants quarterly before meetings with Corporate

Review and approve ECARs and ECON for Division

Owns the CAPEX reporting and Admin of the SMC/Energy ECAR application

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • BS in Accounting or Finance (advanced degree or CPA preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years financial experience in progressively responsible positions within global, multi-site/cultural manufacturing organizations, a demonstrated track record of accountability and achievement.
  • Strong skills and knowledge of accounting theory, application of financial principles (GAAP) & Standard Cost Accounting.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes, profitability and variance analysis.
  • Knowledge and experience managing financial operations in a global, multi-site environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of financial control and analysis within a complex manufacturing environment (primary metals manufacturing preferred).
  • Experience working with Oracle preferred
  • Strong managerial presence that reflects a “hands-on”, participative, pro-active operating style.

Special Skills

  • Excellent analytical skills required.
  • Strong skills and knowledge of accounting theory, application of financial principles (GAAP) & Standard Cost Accounting.
  • Liaison with auditors including internal, external and SOX audits.
  • Strong accounting skills and understanding is required.
  • Must be very detailed oriented and flexible within an ever-changing environment.
  • Excellent PC computer skills with advanced Excel spreadsheet experience, required.

Physical Demands – Must be able to frequently remain in a stationary position.
